Longtime Apple CEO Tim Cook said on Monday he's stepping down, after taking over the top job in 2011 and helping the iPhone maker increase its market cap more than 1,000% from $350 billion to $4 trillion. Apple's board chose John Ternus to take over. The news wasn't much of a surprise. Cook's departure has been floating around the rumor mill for months. Everyone knew this was coming. The unknown here is what Ternus, who has been at Apple almost the entirety of his career, plans for the company when he takes the reins on September 1. WHAT HAPPENED What Ternus has done at Apple throughout his career can give a hint at what he plans to do in the future.
