After leading Apple for 15 years, Tim Cook announced that John Ternus would take over his role as CEO in September 2026 Cook will become executive chairman of Apple's board of directors Ternus has been with the company for over 25 years in hardware engineering leadership roles Apple is entering a new era with John Ternus taking over as CEO from Tim Cook In April 2026, the tech giant announced that Cook would transition to executive chairman of the board of directors, with the change slated for September.
