As apart of an agreement with Connecticut utility regulators relayed to Charter's merger with Cox Communications, the company has agreed to keep its headquarters in Stamford for at least another five years. (Arnold Gold/Hearst Connecticut Media) Connecticut utility regulators on Tuesday unanimously approved Stamford-based Charter Communications acquisition of cable television rival Cox Communications. The approval of the $34.5 billion deal by the state's Public Utilities Regulatory Authority comes one day after the Federal Communications Commission gave its approval to the merger, which will create the country's largest cable television provider. The deal, which was announced in May 2025 , must still be approved by some of the other 46 states where the two companies currently do business.
