Speaking during a Wednesday afternoon status conference in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Major League Baseball counsel James Bromley raised concerns about DSG's loss of carriage on Comcast's cable systems. The operator, which closed out the first quarter of 2024 with 13.6 million residential video subscribers, has not carried the Bally Sports-branded RSNs since Diamond's legacy carriage deal expired April 30 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. “I think it's important, from the perspective of Major League Baseball, to understand exactly how devastating it is to lose carriage on Comcast,” Bromley said. “The fact that we don't have Comcast broadcasting Major League Baseball is a serious thing. … And we have multiple teams who are facing substantial problems … because their fans are unable to watch these games.” Bromle [Read more]
