While that number still pales in comparison to Christmas spending, which surpassed $1 trillion for the first time in 2025, it will still put quite a strain on many families this spring. “While economic uncertainty remains on the minds of many, consumers are still focused on holiday celebrations like Easter,” NRF Chief Economist and Executive Director of Research Mark Mathews said in a statement. “Holidays provide an important opportunity for families to reconnect and create lasting memories, even as economic conditions fluctuate.” Some of the biggest spending drivers for the holiday include gifts at $3.9 billion, candy at $3.5 billion, and flowers at $2.2 billion.
