Summary General Electric's stock does not present a good opportunity. Restructuring will not lead to shareholder value creation because the company is not trading at a discount. The Wabtec deal is an example of why spinoffs will not always create value. I believe that the Wabtec deal valued GE transportation at 13x earnings, making it a dilutive deal based on GE's current forward P/E of 16x. Investors picking a bottom here should reconsider. It doesn’t take much for bottom fishers to get excited about General Electric ( GE ).
