President said in a he would consider it a victory if the U.S. had 20% to 50% tariffs on foreign imports a year from now. Many economists see tariffs as fuel for inflation while slowing down the economy. At 7:37 a.m. ET, blue-chip Dow futures slid 0.3%, or 122 points, to 40,140.00; broad S&P 500 futures fell 0.14%, or 7.5 points, to 5,503.75; and tech-laden Nasdaq futures eased 0.22%, or 41.75 points, to 19,280.25.
