Tesla TSLA , which will publish its highly anticipated first-quarter earnings on Tuesday, April 23, is going through perhaps one of the most significant changes to its extraordinary growth story in years, as it looks to shift focus from its core auto-manufacturing business to a broader self-driving and energy-storage future. That's led to both a likely delay in the launch of its lower-priced Model 2 sedan, which was expected to cost around $25,000, and to the largest layoffs in company history, as CEO Elon Musk looks to "prepare the company for our next phase of growth," according to an internal memo.
