Charter Communications reports better-than-expected Q4 earnings Charter Communications Inc. CHTR, +3.18% reported fourth-quarter earnings on Friday that were better than Wall Street expected thanks, in part, to a $9.3 billion favorable impact from the federal tax overhaul. The telecommunications company reported net income of $9.55 billion, or $34.56 per share, compared with $454 million, or $1.67 per share during the same quarter a year ago. FactSet's EPS consensus was 86 cents. Revenue for the quarter was $10.602 billion, up from $10.275 billion in the year earlier period, and slightly above FactSet's $10.598 billion. The company said it added 15,000 new video customers during the quarter and had 300,000 internet additions and 53,000 voice additions. Shares of Charter are up more than 14% in the last 12 months, while the S&P 500 index SPX, -0.61% is up nearly 24% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.83% is up almost 32%.
