Trump is ‘better than this,’ says longtime friend Barrack A close friend and frequent confidant of Donald Trump’s says he’s disappointed by the way the president has handled some parts of his job, and is openly disagreeing with some of his policies in interviews with the Washington Post. Real-estate mogul Thomas Barrack told the Post that he doesn’t agree with Trump’s proposals including pushing for a border wall with Mexico, and wonders why the president spends so much time appealing to what the Post called the fringes of American politics. Barrack, who runs Colony NorthStar, Inc. CLNS, +0.16% , said he thinks Trump believes he must be “loyal to his base.” But Barrack says he’s pushed back and that Trump’s base is “now the world and America, so you have all these constituencies; show them who you really are.” Barrack has been Trump’s friend for three decades, the Post writes.
