Summary Reverse stock splits and the consistent fall in price has almost wiped the smaller shareholders. Fundamentals still remain weak which make a recovery less likely. Negative EBITDA is bad news as the industry dynamics are not favorable. With a total of 1.1 million shares outstanding and an even smaller float, DryShips will become an extremely volatile stock. DryShips' (NASDAQ: DRYS ) price movement in the last few days has been perplexing. You would be forgiven to think that the company has either made a major breakthrough in its negotiations with the banks or it has found a growth avenue. The stock price almost tripled after the reverse stock split. However, the real story is different and the rise in stock price is artificial. DryShips has been sinking slowly as the company has faced declining revenues and cash flows. Cash has become so scarce that the possibility of bankruptcy is real.
