It was another tough year for the industry, but investors in these chains got served an extra portion of bad. 2017 will go down as year two of the restaurant recession, an industry-induced slump caused by heavy competition from restaurant over-expansion. Many chains turned in lackluster performances thanks to falling foot traffic, but some had a downright awful year.
