by Jamie Butters 2016 year-end results too close to call on if streak extended Analysts see industrywide U.S. sales shrinking in 2017 General Motors Co. and Nissan Motor Co. sales for December rose more than analysts projected, leading the way in what may have been another record year for U.S. auto sales. The largest U.S. automaker said deliveries gained 10 percent to 319,108 cars and light trucks, beating analysts’ projections for an increase of about 4.4 percent. Nissan sales rose 9.7 percent, topping estimates for a 2.8 percent drop. GM was the lone company among the six biggest sellers in the U.S. predicted to report an increase in December, which had one fewer selling day than the year-earlier month. If industrywide deliveries gain, or drop by less than about 2 percent, the full-year total will top last year’s record of almost 17.5 million. Analysts
