Ra Pharma announces mid-stage data on PNH candidate RA101495, certain patients fail to tolerate switch from Soliris; shares down 31%Thinly traded micro cap Ra Pharmaceuticals (RARX-31.3%) slumps on almost a 5x surge in volume, albeit on turnover of less than 600K shares, in reaction tointerim data from a 29-subject Phase 2 clinical trial assessing RA101495 SC in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH).In the eculizumab (Alexion Pharmaceuticals'Soliris)-naive cohort (n=10), patients receiving RA101495 SC achieved a statistically significant reduction in lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels from baseline to weeks 6-12 (p=0.002). 50% of transfusion-dependent patients at entry remained so after treatment with RA101495 SC (which means half remained transfusion-dependent despite treatment).In the cohort that switched from Soliris to RA101495 SC, the LDH response was bimodal (two peaks).
