Richard Robinson, the man responsible for bringing Harry Potter to American readers, among many other career highlights in children’s publishing, has been named the winner of the 2017 Literarian Award for Outstanding Service to the American Literary Community, the National Book Foundation announced Wednesday. Mr. Robinson, the chief executive of the publisher Scholastic since 1975, is only the second person to lead the company — after his father, M. R. Robinson, who founded the company in 1920.
