Summary SFX Entertainment shares plunged after a go-private merger collapsed. The company is running low on cash and could be forced to sell assets. Spotify would be a likely acquirer for SFX's Beatport EDM platform. The sale of Beatport will resolve the company's short-term cash needs. Investors looking for short-term gains from M&A activities could buy SFX. What a year for SFX Entertainment (NASDAQ: SFXE ) and I do mean that in the worst possible way. The stock is on the verge of becoming a penny stock and currently trades around $1.06 per share. Not so long ago, things were looking bright for SFX's shareholders. CEO Robert Sillerman planned to take the company private for $5.25 per share in cash or $774 million total. However, the market feared that Sillerman could not come up with the necessary funding.
