Why I Am Swapping My Whitestone REIT For CBL & Associates PropertiesSummaryOn July 27th, 2016, I recommended purchase of Whitestone REIT to capture relatively high dividend income.Since then, the retail real estate market has experienced upheaval, putting pressure on valuations of many retail REITs and changing relative valuations of several of these names.After CBL and Associates Properties was gobsmacked recently for a dividend reduction, I became interested whether it might represent a better value and source of income than Whitestone.With a more attractive market price, better dividend coverage, greater cash flow available to upgrade facilities and a much better dividend yield, I have elected to close out my position in Whitestone and redeploy the proceeds into CBL Properties.
