Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: TTPH ) recently became a commercial stage biotech company. We should see the first revenue from commercial sales when Q4 2018 results are reported, most likely in February 2019. Despite a bit of recovery at the end of the week, the market as a whole, biotechnology, and small-cap biotechs in particular have been in a slump. That has been amplified for small cap biotechs. I see that as a bargain basement, where a discerning eye can pick up longer term winners at very cheap prices right now. There are many companies in this category. Tetraphase received FDA approval for Xerava for complicated intra-abdominal infections, or cIAI, in late August 2018. It received European approval in September. Xerava is a broad-spectrum, intravenous treatment for antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
