Some analysts say Comcast stock could continue its rally if it loses the Sky battle. U.K. regulators have set a one-day, sealed-bid auction on Saturday to produce a winner in the takeover battle. Comcast currently has the high bid for Sky, at $34 billion. Fox already owns a 39% stake in Sky. Comcast's bid is for the other 61%. Comcast stock rallied in July when it dropped a bid for Fox, handing Disney a victory. Disney acquired Fox for $71 billion. Doug Mitchelson, a Credit Suisse analyst, expects Comcast shares to rise if it loses the Sky battle. "Investors definitely would prefer Comcast to lose out to Disney in the bidding, and the auction has modestly improved those odds," he said in a Sept. 20 report.
