A New Era Of Click-And-Collect Technology Might Bring Amazon And Retailers Closer Together Click-and-collect (also known as BOPIS, or “buy online, pick up in store”) is a practice that has been rapidly expanding. With retailers like Walmart leading the charge, many retailers have been deploying solutions that allow their customers to shop online and pick up their order at a store or checkpoint that’s convenient to them. And ironically, it is click-and-connect programs that might not only allow retailers to differentiate themselves from Amazon, but actually foster a “coopetition” model that expands on both parties’ strengths. “Click-and-collect may actually allow some retailers to benefit from Amazon’s growth, not just try to compete on it,” says Tim Robinson, the CEO of Doddle, a provider of click-and-connect technology in the UK that has recently launched its services in the US.
