Summary Three years ago, casual video game name Zynga (NASDAQ: ZNGA ) was mentally put on the shelf by many investors, who saw it as a has-been that would never be terribly relevant again. At the time it was still reeling from the rise and fall (and 2012 shutdown) of flash hits like Petville and Mafia Wars. The CEO’s office proverbially needed a revolving door installed, with several coming and going – one of them twice – over the course of the past several years, looking for the right leadership chemistry that would lead to more marketable games. But, as Cowen Group analyst Doug Creutz put it in early 2015 , “I think any management team would have a very difficult time fixing Zynga right now. I don’t think it’s as simple as, you bring in the right person and fix everything.” And to be fair, there was nothing simple about it. The fact of the matter is though, this once-red-hot gamemaker has gotten a big chunk of its groove back. Investors would be wise to at least take it
