While it may seem obvious that certain retailers like Whole Foods tend to build in wealthier areas — the only metro-area store is in Nichols Hills, and the two Tulsa locations are just east of Jenks and a few miles south of the Philbrook Museum of Art, respectively — recent analysis shows companies may actually be using home pricing trends when scouting for store locations. A report from former investment banker Aziz Sunderji, who now runs a newsletter called Home Economics, matched more than 32,000 store openings over nearly 50 years alongside home price data and added census demographics.Sunderji's analysis found that home prices in ZIP codes where a Trader Joe's opened grew at a rate 6% faster than the national average over the next three years.
