to lower shipments and shipping constraints, but net income attributable to Alcoa rose to $425 million (adjusted $373 million) and adjusted EBITDA increased to $595 million, up $68 million sequentially. Market disruption and operational response: Management said the Middle East conflict and related shipping/energy issues tightened markets and lifted LME and regional premiums (~10% sequentially), while the full restart of the San Ciprián smelter and inventory repositioning should help drive stronger Q2 aluminum performance. Balance sheet, capital actions and Q2 outlook: Alcoa ended the quarter with $1.4 billion cash but negative free cash flow of $298 million (seasonal working capital), will redeem the remaining $219 million 2028 notes in May, kept 2026 capex guidance, and sees a roughly $15 million headwind in alumina and $55 million tailwind in aluminum for Q2 (plus about $35 million higher Section 232 tariff costs).
