This comes after Apple announced late last year that it planned to split the iPhone cycle and “reduce its reliance on the annual fall spectacle.” This is a signal that Apple's yearly upgrades don't possess the same wow factor as they once did, even though engineering seems to be keeping up with competitor tech.
