Related news A respected Apple ( AAPL ) analyst on Friday took an ax to his iPhone estimates for 2019. He now sees iPhone unit sales falling 5%-10% from 2018. TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said demand for Apple's iPhones is falling well short of earlier projections. "2019 iPhone shipments (are) likely to be under 190 million units," he said in a report, according to CNBC . That compares with the current analyst consensus for 212 million units, according to FactSet. He now expects iPhone unit shipments in a range of 188 million to 194 million in 2019. For 2018, Apple is likely to ship 205 million to 210 million iPhone units. Kuo is well known for having great sources among Apple's supply chain partners, resulting in accurate reports. An increase in demand for less-expensive, older-model iPhones will not be enough to offset soft sales of the company's 12th-generation models, the iPhone XS and XR, he said.
