A federal judge on Tuesday rejected Masimos request to block imports of certain Apple Watch models tied to blood-oxygen sensing technology. Judge Ana Reyes denied both a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction, clearing the way for Apple to continue bringing the watches into the country, according to Bloomberg Law. Masimo argues the devices infringe its patents related to light-based pulse oximetry, a claim that previously led the U.S. International Trade Commission to issue an import ban in late 2023. Apple responded by changing how blood-oxygen data is handled, shifting some processing to the paired iPhone through software updates. Masimo says that workaround shouldnt count, and the fight isnt over. The ITC has now reopened the case to take another look.
