Achillion's Recent Positive Data Points To A Major Inflection Point Moving Forward Summary Achillion Pharmaceuticals reports positive data from a phase 1 study using ACH-5228 as a treatment for complement mediated diseases. ACH-5228 is a second-generation Factor D inhibitor to treat complement mediated diseases, with biggest focus of the company being on its first-generation product ACH-4471 being tested in multiple mid-stage studies. Data from a phase 2 study using ACH-4471 plus eculizumab to treat suboptimal PNH responders to eculizumab is expected to be released by Q4 of 2019. Achillion has a diversified pipeline with multiple Factor D inhibitors to target the complement pathway, but several competitors such as Alexion, Ra, and Apellis should be monitored closely.
