Turnaround firm Gordon Brothers is understood to have tabled its interest in recent days as other prospective bidders cool on a deal for the retailer, whose high profile customers have included the Princess of Wales and Theresa May, the former prime minister. The Telegraph understands that high street giant Next is no longer in the running after emerging as an early favourite to save LK Bennett, which employs 280 staff, from collapse. Sources close to Next said it had exited the process after tabling a cut-price offer to snap up the retailer's brand and other intellectual property assets. A retail source said its bid was deemed to be too low. Other parties believed to be in the mix include Breal Capital, which owns several troubled breweries and dining chains.
