Today, one of the world's largest miners announced a major acquisition to consolidate its position in the Arctic. Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (TSX: AEM) (NYSE: AEM) announced a definitive agreement to purchase all outstanding shares of Aurion Resources Ltd. (TSX-Venture: AU) (OTCQX: AIRRF) in an all-cash transaction valued at C$481M. The offer price of C$2.60 per share represents a 46% premium to Aurion's closing price on April 17, 2026. Aurion's portfolio is anchored by 761 km² of contiguous ground in Finland's Central Lapland Greenstone Belt, which remains one of the most active and under-explored gold districts in Europe.
