The aircraft orders will instead be transferred Quick Insights Spirit Airlines will reduce its fleet by nearly half and forfeit rights to 36 undelivered Airbus jets, but will enter new leases for 30 aircraft over three years. Spirit relinquishes 27 leases, forfeits deposits, allows AerCap an unsecured claim, loses rights to 36 jets, and receives a $150 million cash infusion from AerCap. Spirit will significantly scale back operations, furlough 1,800 flight attendants, secure $475 million in DIP financing, and reduce costs by hundreds of millions.
