Four of the seven largest PE-backed acquisitions of power generation businesses were either completed or announced in the past three years, according to PitchBook data. A fifth, the $5 billion acquisition of Cleco by Stonepeak Partners and Bernhard Capital Partners, is close to being agreed upon, Bloomberg reports. The International Energy Agency projects global electricity consumption for data centers will double between 2024 and 2030, growing more than four times faster than total electricity consumption from all other sectors.
