Rat on a plane: Stowaway critter found in cabin cancels flight [USA TODAY]

An unexpected passenger snuck onboard a KLM flight from Amsterdam to Aruba on Dec. 10: a rat. According to footage from Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf , a rat appeared from the overhead bins and crawled behind a curtain in the cabin while KLM flight 767 was en route to the Caribbean island. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines confirmed the onboard rat to USA TODAY. "This was a very exceptional incident," the airline said in a statement. KLM told RTL Nieuws it's not clear how the stowaway rodent snuck onto the plane, but that the flight crew kept an eye on it until landing in Aruba. The return flight from Aruba to Amsterdam via Bonaire was canceled to allow the aircraft to be cleaned before returning to service. "The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew are always our top priority," the airline continued. This isn't the first reported rodent to take to the skies.
