survey , with the key headline that CEOs are feeling more confident today than they have in some time. And that confidence is broad-based, with chief executives expressing optimism about sales growth, capital investment, and hiring. At the risk of putting a damper on the good-news party, it does seem a fair question to ask: Why they are feeling bullish? After all, it's not as though macro-conditions have steadied. Russia is advancing in Ukraine. Anti-Semitism has become part of public discourse in the US. We have rebels with missiles and pirates – actual pirates – disrupting supply chains. Inflation ticked up last month. The long-term prognosis for US-China relations remains at best an opaque mess. And, as you may have heard, the looming presidential election promises to be a tad fraught.
