driven by geopolitical factors as the primary source of uncertainty, the company said April 20. The Seattle-based airline reported an adjusted loss per share of $1.68 for the quarter ending March 31, compared to an adjusted loss of $0.77 per share a year earlier. First-quarter revenue totaled $3.3 billion, up 5% year over year. Fuel averaged $2.98 per gallon for the quarter, up 14.2% from $2.61 a year earlier, with aircraft fuel expense rising 17% to $796 million. In announcing the guidance suspension, the company stated: "Until conditions stabilize and we have better sight to earnings beyond the current quarter, we have suspended full-year guidance." CEO Ben Minicucci, in a statement, said the results nonetheless showed the company's long-term strategy was working despite the volatile environment.
