present an integrated fibre-based tray system for protein products and chilled ready meals. The packaging format combines a lightweight barrier liner with a top web and is due to be demonstrated at the interpack trade fair, due to be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 7 to 13 May. The system will run on G Mondini's Trave Streamline machine. Amcor said its development team worked with G Mondini on machine compatibility for meat and food manufacturers. The tray and film solution is based on Amcor's AmFiber paper-based packaging and is intended for perishable foods requiring shelf-life protection. The formats reflect increased consumer acceptance of more sustainable materials and provide brands with another packaging option. The tray is made with Muoto, a moulded fibre packaging material developed by Metsä Spring, Metsä Group's innovation company.
