The new pot and lid together weigh 31.6g, which Amcor reports is lighter than its previous container of the same size. The company estimates that this reduced weight could result in up to a 9% carbon emission reduction, based on projected manufacturing volumes. Constructed entirely from polypropylene, the container is described as “recycle-ready”, assuming the appropriate recycling facilities exist in the market. The lid is compression-moulded for strength and is designed to remain attached even when squeezed. Improvements to the tamper-evidence feature are intended to provide greater security for consumers. The UniPak range supports various branding options such as in-mould labelling and is available in multiple shapes and sizes.
