The note comes after a Capitol Forum report on Wednesday that Dept. of Justice was considering a lawsuit t o block its planned sale to UnitedHealth ( UNH ). The antitrust regulator has been deposing the merger parties, while also engaging in divestiture talk. "We continue to believe that the Optum/AMED deal will close given strong precedent for carriers operating home health assets and the high fragmentation across the home care sector, even pro forma for the combination," RBC analyst Ben Hendrix, who has an outperform rating on Amedisys wrote in a note on Monday. Investors are concerned about a potential lawsuit DOJ regulator sued in 2022 to block UnitedHealth's $8 billion purchase of Change Healthcare, a decision that a judge overturned, allowing the deal to happen. There's also worry after the WSJ reported late last month that the DOJ is probing ties between UnitedHealth and its Optum health services arm.
