Global container volumes are now expected to expand by 4% in 2025, compared to a previous forecast of 2% to 4%. "As market conditions fluctuate, we are well positioned to help our customers adapt and maintain stability across their supply chains," said CEO Vincent Clerc in a statement. Clerc also called the company's third-quarter returns "strong," even as the bellwether for worldwide trading activity grappled with headwinds from trade tensions and broader economic uncertainty. Exports from East Asia, particularly China, helped Maersk's key shipping business post a 7% jump in quarterly freight volumes. Imports also remained "robust" in Europe, Africa, Latin America and West Central Asia, but were counterbalanced by contracting volumes into North America, especially from China to the United States.
