for the Sacramento Area Sewer District at the EchoWater Resource Recovery Facility near Elk Grove, California. Ameresco ( AMRC ) said the project will use biogas produced by the EchoWater facility - the largest inland sewage discharger west of the Mississippi River - to generate heat and power. The on-site renewable energy facility will beneficially utilize biogas (methane), a byproduct of EchoWater's solids treatment process, to produce renewable electricity and heat through an integrated 13.4 MW cogeneration plant that will utilize fuel cell and engine technology, the company said.Construction of the new facility is expected to be completed by mid-2026.
