Amazon Relay, the shipping giant's Uber-like app for truck drivers, is adding 75 trucks from Swedish EV company Einride as part of a diversification of a no-carbon emissions freight strategy that already includes electrification deals with Rivian and Mercedes. Einride is among the big rig startups bringing autonomous EV trucking to roads, but these trucks for Amazon will be manually operated electric heavy-duty big rigs. Amazon Relay is a middle-mile network in which the Einride trucks are projected to drive up to 3 million electric transport miles annually.
