Amazon's cloud division AWS posted its highest growth rate since 2022 at the start of the year, the online retail giant announced on Wednesday. Revenue for the segment rose 28% year-over-year to just under $38 billion in the first three months of the year. Overall, the group's revenue climbed 17% to $181.5 billion. Operating profit rose 30% to nearly $24 billion. Both figures exceeded analysts' expectations. The group's net income rose by nearly 77% to around $30.3 billion. The revenue forecast for the second quarter also exceeded market expectations. However, due to high investments in expanding the cloud business and products related to artificial intelligence (AI), cash flow declined significantly.
