Amazon is looking to grow its own satellite internet service, Leo, as it works to compete with SpaceX's Starlink service. Amazon could be looking to make a big move to grow its budding satellite internet service. Shares of Globalstar ( GSAT ) were up over 9% in recent trading following a report the satellite internet company could be acquired by Amazon ( AMZN ). Talks around a potential deal, which could be worth an estimated $9 billion, are ongoing but could face some hurdles, The Financial Times reported Wednesday. One of the complicating factors to clear a deal could include negotiations with Apple ( AAPL ), which bought a 20% stake in Globalstar in 2024, the report said. Amazon declined to remark, and Globalstar did not immediately respond to an Investopedia request for comment.
