Under the restructuring plan, existing shareholders will receive no payout, while contract manufacturer Picea Robotics will acquire 100% of the company, iRobot said in a statement issued late Sunday. Following the takeover, iRobot expects to complete the bankruptcy proceedings as early as February. The Massachusetts-based company was once a trailblazer in the robot vacuum market with its Roomba brand. The autonomous device uses sensors and mapping technology to navigate rooms and automatically clean floors. In recent years, however, iRobot has struggled amid intensifying competition from Chinese manufacturers, which typically offer lower-priced devices. The US firm had sought a turnaround through a sale to Amazon, but the deal agreed in August 2022 collapsed after opposition from European competition authorities. The European Commission blocked the acquisition, citing concerns that Amazon could disadvantage iRobot's rivals on its e-commerce platform. In October, iRobot said
