Full Summary Amazon will temporarily shut its Homestead, Florida fulfillment center for about two years to remodel it, reassigning hundreds of workers and potentially facing a multimillion-dollar fine from Miami-Dade County for breaching a 2020 job-creation agreement. Amazon will temporarily close a warehouse in Florida, according to a WARN notice filed by the company. The company said the purpose of the closure is to renovate the facility into a different type of distribution center , a process that will take two years. After initially announcing the decision on March 5, Amazon posted the notice on April 17, which states that 616 employees will be affected by layoffs from its TMB8 facility, 27505 SW 132nd Ave., Homestead, effective July 2.
