Shares were recently 15% higher at a limit high of 5,246 yen on Wednesday morning. Advertisement Oasis Management said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday that it now held 3.4 million shares in Ain after having acquired 1.6 million shares on Monday. The Hong Kong-based activist investor said it might make significant proposals to the company in order to defend shareholder value. Ain has projected net profit would increase 8.3% to 10.00 billion yen ($66.6 million) for the fiscal year ending April, thanks to a recovery in the number of customers and stronger sales of cosmetics. It expects fiscal-year revenue to grow 8.8% to Y390.26 billion. In February, Oasis Management agreed to sell a 14% stake in drugstore operator Tsuruha Holdings for Y102.3 billion to Aeon Co., as the Japanese retail giant plans to merge Tsuruha with its drugstore unit Welcia Holdings in a bid to solidify its presence in the domestic market.
