Air Products beats profit expectations but came up shy on sales, gives downbeat Q2 outlook Air Products & Chemicals Inc. APD, -0.32% reported Friday a fiscal first-quarter profit that beat expectations, but revenue that missed and provided a downbeat outlook. The industrial gases company's stock was still inactive in premarket trading. Net income for the quarter to Dec. 31 rose to $475.6 million, or $2.14 a share, from $347.5 million, or $1.57 a share, in the year-ago period. Excluding non-recurring items, adjusted earnings per share of $2.14 topped the FactSet consensus of $2.10. Sales grew 1.4% to $2.25 billion, below the FactSet consensus of $2.29 billion, as misses in industrial gas sales in the Americas and in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region offset a beat in Asia.
