Related news After short-sellers tanked Aphria ( APHA ) stock this month, one of Wall Street's most notorious short-sellers — and a onetime skeptic of marijuana stocks — is giving the Canadian cannabis producer a big assist. X That short-seller, Andrew Left's Citron Research, said the bidding for someone to acquire or invest in Aphria — potentially even by a big Canadian rival — was "officially on" as its stock trades at a discount in a cannabis market that Canada, for the next year or two, largely has to itself. Aphria is discounted because Quintessential Capital and Hindenburg Research alleged earlier this month that Aphria conducted illicit dealmaking related to acquisitions in Latin America that ultimately enriched Aphria's insiders. But that's not stopping Citron.
