The stock market moved broadly lower Wednesday morning following news of just how badly the economy has suffered as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Retail sales fell more than 8% in March, which was even worse than most economists had expected. With many businesses still expected to remain closed for some time, the data could be just the start of an extended period of bad economic numbers.
