Intel ( INTC Financials ) will buy Apollo Global Management's interest in its Ireland chip facility for $14.2 billion , regaining full control of one of its key manufacturing assets.After selling a 49% part in the facility for $11.2 billion in 2024 to generate cash amid a tough time, Intel reversed course. With its balance sheet improving and demand rising, the corporation is bringing the asset back in-house.Fab 34 in Ireland produces innovative PC and data center chips. That matters more as demand for AI processors, especially inference ones, rises.Intel will pay the transaction with cash and $6.5 billion in new debt, expecting it to boost profits and credit in 2027.The decision also reflects Intel's wider reforms.
