The deal values the team at €2.2 billion ($2.55 billion), according to someone familiar with the details. It is the second-highest price ever for a control sale of a soccer team, after the $3.16 billion purchase of Chelsea by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in 2022. Miguel Ángel Gil Marin and Enrique Cerezo will continue to lead Atlético as CEO and president, respectively, and will stay on the cap table alongside Quantum Pacific Group and Ares Management. Marin was previously the largest shareholder with roughly 35%.
